Gulf Coast Landscape was founded in 1980, incorporated in March 1983, and is still run by the same leadership that planted its first job.

J. Ward Surginer
Founded the company in 1980- BS in Biology and Psychology, Auburn University, with post-graduate studies in landscape design and installation
- Holds SLP, LD, and OTPS licenses from the Alabama Dept. of Agriculture & Industries, and the LCLM license from the Florida Dept. of Agriculture & Consumer Services
- Personally oversees all irrigation and landscape installation, plus Florida maintenance operations
- Member, Alabama Nurseryman’s Association, Southeast Nurseryman’s Association, and Alabama Irrigation Association
Jeffrey Surginer
With the company since 2001- Bachelor of Business Administration, University of South Alabama
- Oversees all commercial landscaping projects in Alabama and assists in all operational and financial matters
- Holds the Alabama SLP license and the Florida LCLM license
- Passed the Mississippi Contractors Licensing Board business and law examination, qualifying GCL to contract work in Mississippi
Latisha K. Eaves, M.Acc
With the company since 1991- Master of Accounting and BS in Business Administration, University of South Alabama
- Oversees daily office operations, payables, receivables, payroll, invoicing, and job costing
- Maintains all job correspondence and contract records
- Notary Public

Since 1980, GCL has specialized in landscape installation and maintenance for condominiums and apartments, beachfront residential developments, and shopping centers. The work area covers southern Alabama, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and the Florida Panhandle.
Licensing runs just as wide: Alabama horticultural and irrigation licenses, Florida commercial landscape maintenance licensing, and Mississippi contractor qualification. Three states, one standard.
